Busy Times at Pangman Pool This Summer

Well, September has arrived and school will be starting next week.  It just seems like yesterday that the pool opened. Summer seems to have just flown by this year.

Thanks to all the volunteers that came out to help tidy up the pool, with a very special thanks to the staff of RBC in Ogema.  You all did a wonderful job sprucing the pool up.

As well a big thanks to Shelbi Rowland for once again managing the pool and teaching swimming lessons. Also, thanks to all the lifeguards who worked at the pool this summer.

Unfortuantely the boiler gave out this summer, so the Pool will be holding fundraisers to help raise the funds needed to replace the boiler.  The first fundraiser was a barbeque at the pool and a midnight swim which was held on August 27th. Thanks to everyone who came out to supper the pool.

Let’s all come together and help the pool raise the funds needed to buy a new boiler so the water will be nice and warm next summer for swimming.

Christmas Craft & Bazaar 2014

On Saturday, Dec 6th, the Grade 12 class held their annual Christmas Craft & Bazaar fundraiser at the Pangman School Gym.

There were many Vendors who came out to sell their items, including: homemade chocolates, jewelry, crafts, baking, and much more!!  They had a good turn out at the sale, and many people purchased some of their Christmas Gifts.

In the afternoon, Santa came for a visit and handed out goodie bags to the children.

A big thank you to everyone who helped out the Grade 12 class put on this fundraiser.

Pangman Emergency Services Fundraiser Oct 25, 2014

On Saturday, October 25, 2014 the Pangman Emergency Services hosted a fundraiser to raise funds for a new Emergency Vehicle and Ambulance.

The evening started with Cocktails at 5 pm, followed by a delicious supper with turkey and all the trimmings. After supper current and past volunteers of the Fire Department and employees of the Ambulance where recognized.  Then a variety of delicious desserts were served.

The Fire and Ice draw was made at 9 pm and there were two lucky winners.

The JudyK Trio performed entertained everyone for the remainder of the evening with some great music.

A big thank you to everyone who organized and volunteered to make this fundraiser a huge success.

Pangman Swimming Pool Fundraising!

The liner at the swimming pool is torn and needs to be replaced. Pam Rowland has started a Facebook Group where you can keep up with all the news about fundraising etc. for the Swimming Pool.

There was a fundraising meeting held on Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 where they discussed many fundraising ideas.

They are also accepting donates from members of the community and local business, which can be made at the Radius Credit Union.

Pangman EMS News 2014

EMS Service Map

The wine glass outline on the above map is our actual designated coverage area with Truax & Lang at the top end and the USA Border to the South.  Our Western Border we share with Moose Jaw, Bengough and Coronach. Eastern has Weyburn and Radville.

Radville is frequently out of service so we then cover the yellow shaded area at the right side of the wine glass outline.

Our call volume as Ambulance varies between 150 to 200 calls per year. We are supported by Pangman Fire and Rescue throughout our area which usually is about 10 calls for them.

We are in the process of ordering our new ambulance.  It will be a 4-wheel drive with a price tag of about $140,000.00. Our community share of this will be about $80,000.00. Between last year’s fundraising and the proceeds from an estate, we have most of the needed funds in place.

However, the Rescue Vehicle needs to be replaced as it is unsafe to operate because weight of equipment carried is too heavy for the vehicle.

The Fire Department has about $20,000.00 available from the previous fundraising, but still needs about $30,000.00 to replace their van. They are the priority for our Pangman Emergency Services fundraising. We will be starting another Raffle quite soon and are trying to organize some other fundraising events. Your support will certainly go that direction.

Their only other source of funds is RM and Village grants.  We are trying to get the other 9 RM’s they serve as Rescue to provide some financial support. Their fees for service from SGI cover operating costs, but no replacement.

Daycare Fundraiser Featuring The Judy K Five

The Pangman Daycare Fundraiser featuring The Judy K Five was held on Saturday, April 27th at the Abundant Living Church in Pangman.

It was a nice April evening and over 75 people came out to hear the Judy K Five play. They performed some of Judy’s original songs and some favourite blues and boogie songs. The Judy K Five is a band of local musicians led by Judy Koszman, from Bengough, on keyboard, Doug McCullough on guitar, Phil Trylinski on drums, Gary Penner on base guitar and Maurice Koszman on spoons.

This local group of musicians have been practicing since January and they were delighted to play to help raise money for our daycare’s summer programming which is for children aged 6 to 12. This summer the daycare will be offering 4 special programs for school aged children: Kids in the Kitchen, Kids in Motion, Creative Art and Woodworking.

During intermission everyone enjoyed coffee and some fabulous deserts. In fact, the deserts were so good the band had a bit of a time getting everyone back for the 2nd set.

The Daycare would like to thank everyone who came out to support the summer program and to the Judy K Five for performing.

Pangman Ladies Night Out April 11, 2013

On Thursday, April 11, 2013 the Pangman Annual Ladies Night Out was held at the Pangman School Gym. Even though the weather was not the greatest, many women came out for this yearly event from Pangman, Ogema and Ceylon.

This year the Pangman Emergency Services did a presentation on the different procedures they use to rescue people from vehicle accidents. A big thank you to those from the Pangman Emergency Services for this presentation.

The ladies enjoyed a supper of Ham, Turkey and all the trimmings, plus dessert. Again this year there were many door prizes.

A big thank you to Val, Sharon and Jackie for planning this year’s Ladies Night Out and to all those who donated food and money.

All proceeds raised at this year’s event was donated to the Pangman Emergency Services.

Fire and Ice Fundraiser February 15, 2013

It was a full house at the Khedive Recreation Centre on Friday, Feb 15th. The Pangman Emergency Services held their first successful fundraiser. 120 advance tickets sold quickly for the event.

A silent auction, live action (headed up by Rod Rowland), and raffle tickets were sold for a first prize of a Diamond Ring (Donated by York Jewellers in Weyburn), and a second prize of a Barbecue (Donated by the Pangman Coop). Winner of the diamond ring was Linda Schultz of Weyburn and the winner of the barbecue was Dorothy Howse of Pangman.

The Khedive group donated their hall free of charge to us and also prepared a wonderful Roast Beef Supper with all the extra trimmings, which also included a wonderful assortment in their dessert cart. E. Bourassa’s & Sons and Morris Equipment sponsored the Supper for us.

We had so much support for this event it was overwhelming. Thank you to everyone for auction items, cash and for sharing some stories with us when the Emergency Services were needed. Also, a big thank you to Linda Schultz, the Winner of the diamond ring who generously donated it back to us, and to Dorothy Howse the winner of the barbecue who also donated it back to us as well.

Monies raised will be going towards the purchase of a new ambulance and rescue truck. In the short time we had to plan, together we raised over $27,000.00!!!

Last Farmers Market for 2012

Our last Farmers Market for the 2012 season was held on Saturday, September 29, 2012. We had a wonderful day weather wise. There were about 15 tables for the vendors, who have come each week, with garden produce, baking, crafts, jewelry and garage sale items.

Our Train Platform is a wonderful welcome for the Tour Train as well as our local folks who came to “meet and  greet” the Tour Train each week.

This week we had the Spinning Wheels join us from the Weyburn area with some nice old time music, which was a very nice touch for our party.

We had about 10 cars and trucks join us for the Show and Shine display.   A big thank you to Bryon Ledingham for organizing this.

We featured a Burger lunch as a final fund raiser for the Platform Dock and the response was very good. We served about 100 burgers. Thanks to all who helped with this.

We had about 130 people come out for our final Farmers Market,  including the train folks, our vendors, car display and local residents.

The Pangman and District Economic Development Board would like to thank everyone who have been involved with making this years Farmers Market a big success. We would also like to thank John Strutt of Strutt Corvettes for donating 2 Limited Edition Cars to raffle with all proceeds going towards the Platform fund.  The draw was done on Saturday and the winners were: Jaycee Rowland and Navey Tondevold.

The 50/50 draws over the summer have been beneficial to the Pangman and District Economic Development Board and the many winners were; Doreen Rainey, Kay Gurskey, Patti Klippenstein, Albert Hansen (2), Jack Rainey, Val Heustis, Dan Cordick, Eileen Tunall and more.

Community Fundraiser for Lloyd & Leanne Lillejord

Community Fundraiser for Lloyd & Leanne Lillejord was held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Pangman School Gym.

Boyd prepared a wonderful Beef supper with all the trimmings.  As well many businesses and individuals donated items for the silent auction, door prizes and raffle.

Boyd and Dan would like to thank everyone who helped to make Lloyd & Leanne Lillejord’s Fundraiser a huge success. To date we have raised over $15,000 and counting with more still to be received.  If you would like to make a donation you can do so at any Radius Credit Union or mail a cheque, payable to Lloyd & Leanne Lillejord, to the Hometown Cafe, PO Box 96, Pangman, SK  S0C 2C0.  They would also like to thank everyone who donated Auction Items, Cash, and a big thank you to those who donated their time on the 18th to help make this fundraiser a success.
