On Thursday, April 19, 2012 was our annual Ladies Night Out held at the Pangman School Gym. This annual event is organized by the Ladies Night Out committee: Sharon Svedahl, Val Heustis and Jacki Wolstenholme.
About 80 women came out on this cool evening to have a delicious meal of Turkey, Ham, Salads, Mashed Potatoes, Vegetables, Dressing and Gravy with Make Your Own Sunday’s for dessert.
The guest speaker this year was Judy Schwindt who spoke about her visit to Qatar, where her brother and sister-in-law work. She spoke about the history of Qatar, the politics, people, land, and education. As well she presented a slide show of her many photos from her visit. After the talk, a couple of women tried on the Sheila (head scarf) and Niqab (face veil) that the women wear and also the Ghutra that the men wear on their heads. There was also a display of some of the items that Judy had brought back from Qatar.
During the evening, many door prizes, which were generously donated by local businesses and members of our community, were given away. The evening closed with the raffle draw. A good time was had by all.
This year all the proceeds from the Ladies Night Out were donated to the Ladies Auxiliary. The committee would like to thank all those who bought tickets, donated prizes, made salads and helped out at the event.
