News:

Pangman Public Library has gone through some changes in the past year- the biggest was becoming part of Saskatchewan’s Integrated Library Systems (SILS), giving patrons access to material in every public library in the province. Southeast’s library cards are now being replaced with SILS cards and patrons can come into the library and have them changed free of charge. Anyone not yet a patron can become one by coming by the library with proof of residence and can get a card free of charge. Previously our Region had no overdue charges but there are now charges of 30 cents per day on overdue books. Patrons  have 3 weeks when they take items out of the library and then can renew twice for another 3 weeks each time giving them plenty of time to finish material.

We are at the minimum hours now for the library to remain open, so we need to increase our circulation which consists of books checked out of the branch as well as request items (which can now come from anywhere in the province) and picked up at our branch. Open hours are decided by headquarters and use a complex formula of library programing as well as building use (other groups using the building) along with circulation.

Programming:
  • Crafts/story time for K – Grade 2 and Summer Reading program through the summer holidays.
  • Book Club meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
  • Craft Classes will begin again next year with Cake Decorating and Quilting and more.
  • We will be restarting our Outreach program to the care home (taking large print books to those who would like them).

If anyone has a program they would like to see happen call Carol at the library – 442-2119 – during open hours.

There are 3 public access computers available at the library for public to access the Internet and other computer work. We hope to have a scanner/copier/printer shortly for use by the public with a small cost for printing.

If you wish to request books from your computer at home please come in and the librarian can assist you in setting it up so you only need to stop in and pick up your books.

The Board is always open to suggestions for programing so please contact us as we want to keep the library as active as possible with circulation a very important part in keeping the library open. Don’t hesitate to come in and get your free library card if you don’t have one and check out the variety of books and magazines for both adults and children.
